Jordan Raanan of NJ.com reported the below on July 31:
Wilson will meet with Dr. Frank Cammisa, his first consultation with Cammisa since the burner. Cammisa, the doctor who performed Wilson’s spinal surgery in January, was not at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Tuesday, when Wilson was put though a battery of tests.Head coach Tom Coughlin, the only person authorized to speak about player injuries, has only been able to tell us that the team will wait for the doctors to make a determination on Wilson's neck before deciding Wilson's fate with the club.
The Giants did their best to build a stable of running backs behind the 2012 first-round pick in case a setback occurred. The team always viewed Wilson's return this season as a bonus. Now, however, there's a good chance he will never return.
Coughlin was asked after last night's game how important it was for the Giants to rush the ball well without Wilson in the lineup.
"David Wilson’s injury, not withstanding, that’s very important to us no matter what. You need a natural rotation. Hopefully we’ll get it," said the coach.
