Wilson is out for a week and will not play in Sunday’s game, the Giants announced.
Wilson suffered a burner during Tuesday’s practice and went to the Hospital for Special Surgery for a “battery of tests.” He is expected to be re-examined on Monday by the doctor who did his spinal surgery in the offseason.
He recently tweeted "I'm doing well" and “Left practice early yesterday but everything turned out to be fine once the Dr. Looked @ me plus I passed all physical examination. I find out more on Monday.”
Only time will tell if this will come to pass, but Wilson passed the original examination when he left the field the other day.
The sticky wicket here could be the Giants second-guessing their decision to clear Wilson at the onset of camp and are now apprehensive to give him clearance going forward.
Given how easily and quickly Wilson re-injured the neck, who can blame them? The player's health must be prioritized.
This next round of evaluations will surely be more difficult for him to pass. The Giants may err on the side of caution and shelve Wilson for the season.
