About Connecticut Ice
SNY's Connecticut Ice Festival is a first of its kind weekend hockey festival showcasing youth and amateur hockey from across the state. The multi-day, multi-discipline ice hockey festival includes mites, squirts, pee wee, prep school and high school -- culminating in a college tournament featuring Connecticut's four NCAA Division I Men's College hockey teams. Connecticut Ice takes place at the end of January at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT.
SNY's Connecticut Ice Festival includes an action-packed weekend of hockey both on and off the ice. The Festival includes a Mite Cross Ice Jamboree for 6-8-year olds, a Youth Tournament, with the Championship games in three divisions (Boys 12U and 10U and Girls 12U) being played at Webster Bank Arena and a High School and Prep School Rivalry Game (featuring the best schools in the state). And lastly, the Collegiate Cup -- a two-round, four-game tournament for state bragging rights featuring Yale University, Quinnipiac University, University of Connecticut and Sacred Heart University -- televised live on SNY.
Off the ice there is plenty of family fun, with interactive games and experiences as well as seminars for youth players and their families in conjunction with USA Hockey.
In short: Connecticut Ice is a three-day festival celebrating the state's unique relationship with hockey, culminating in a ticketed two-day collegiate tournament between Yale University, Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart University, and the University of Connecticut.
In conjunction with CT Ice, SNY will operate a youth Tournament. The Youth Tournament will involve Division II teams as follows: Four Boy Squirts teams (10U), Four Boys Peewee teams (12U), and Four Girls teams 12U teams. Teams will play preliminary games during the week leading up to the Festival Weekend at local rinks in the Bridgeport area, with Championship games being played at Webster Bank Arena during the CT Ice Festival Weekend.
Cross Ice Jamboree
SNY will operate a Cross Ice Jamboree for Mite Players, age 8 and under. Game sessions will run 1-hour for each participating team, and will be played on the Friday afternoon of the CT Ice Festival Weekend. Teams will be selected to play from across the state of Connecticut, with the goal of have representation from all geographic areas. Tickets will be sold at the arena box office on game day, and will be available on a first come, first served General Admission basis. Teams will be selected to participate based on criteria established by SNY.
High School Showcase Game
SNY will showcase two outstanding high school teams during the CT Ice Festival Weekend at Webster Bank Area. Match-ups will feature the best traditional rivalries or best performing teams each year. Tickets will be sold at the arena box office on game day, and will be available on a first come, first served General Admission basis. Teams will be selected to participate on criteria established by SNY.
Prep School Showcase Game
SNY will showcase two outstanding Prep School Teams during the CT Ice Festival Weekend at Webster Bank Arena. With a long history of head-to-head match-ups and fierce rivalries, the Prep School Showcase game is certain to be a classic game for the ages. Tickets will be sold at the arena box office on game day, and will be available on a first come, first served General Admission basis. Teams will be selected to participate on criteria established by SNY.
