The Brooklyn Nets face the Miami Heat on the road Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

According to STATS:

  • The Heat overcame an 18-point deficit entering the fourth quarter and defeated Brooklyn last Wednesday, 109-106. It was Miami's largest fourth-quarter comeback win since at least 2002-03. The Heat have now won eight of nine meetings against the Nets since 2014-15.
  • Through Sunday, Nets opponents have combined for a .523 winning percentage, making Brooklyn's strength of schedule to date the toughest in the Eastern Conference. Only Dallas and Phoenix (.526 each) have faced tougher slates in the entire NBA.
  • After going just 11-30 through their first 41 games of 2016-17 (halfway point of the season), the Heat have won their last seven games. Miami surrendered just 12 points in the fourth quarter of Saturday's victory over Detroit, and currently leads the league this season with an average of 23.6 points allowed per game in the fourth period.
  • Rookie guard Isaiah Whitehead led the Nets with eight assists on Saturday, matching a season high. He currently paces Brooklyn with 2.9 assists per game, the lowest rate by any team leader in the league.
  • Goran Dragic scored 23 points Saturday, just above his season average of 22.2 points per game at home. That's 4.5 better than his rate on the road (17.7), the largest such disparity in the NBA (based on home better, minimum played 75 percent of team games both home and road).
  • In addition to scoring 18 points on Saturday, James Johnson contributed eight rebounds and five assists. It was the seventh time this season that Johnson combined at least five rebounds and five assists off the bench, the most by any reserve in 2016-17.

The Nets sat struggling rookie guard Isaiah Whitehead in Thursday's loss to the Celtics, although head coach Kenny Atkinson said the rest was pre-planned. The 6-foot-4 rookie shooting guard has just nine points on 3-of-13 shooting from the field in two preseason games. He also has four turnovers and has yet to hit a 3-pointer. NEW YORK -- Isaiah Whitehead always envisioned himself as a first-round NBA Draft pick even if DraftExpress.com had him going late in the second.

So when the 6-foot-5 former Seton Hall point guard was selected at No. 42 by the Utah Jazz -- a pick that was then conveyed to the Nets in exchange for former North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige -- he said it will only serve as motivation going forward.

"It's definitely motivation," Whitehead said at Barclays Center. "I mean, I always dreamed about being a first-round pick. It didn't happen, so you've got to move on and just keep working and try to prove everyone wrong."

LAS VEGAS - For an NBA prospect like Isaiah Whitehead, every opportunity to improve his draft stock has to be taken very seriously. That's why the Seton Hall guard felt a little nervous before Tuesday's pro day at Impact Sports Academy in Las Vegas.

More than 120 scouts and front office executives from all 30 teams were on hand to watch the workout, and after going through some shooting and ball-handling drills and playing some 3-on-3 games, Whitehead said he was pleased with his performance, even if it took him a while to settle down.

"I don't care who you are, if you're coming in and playing in front of every scout and GM in the NBA, you're going to have some nerves," Whitehead said. "I think I was solid. I felt some [nerves] last night, but once I got here and got loose and made some shots, I got comfortable. I wasn't great and I wasn't bad. I think it was a solid day."

CHICAGO -- Isaiah Whitehead hasn't formally signed with an agent and has until May 25 to return to school, but the Seton Hall sophomore guard says he's "100 percent" gone if he gets a promise to be chosen in the first round of next month's NBA Draft.

"Oh yeah, 100 percent," Whitehead said Thursday at the NBA Draft Combine after going for 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting with 5 assists, 3 rebounds and no turnovers in a 109-69 victory. "You can't give up opportunities like that. I mean, when they tell you it's time to go, you just gotta go."

He added to SNY.tv: "And anybody at Seton Hall would have to agree with me. When they tell you that you're a first-round pick, you can't turn that down."

It promises to be an eventful couple of days for Isaiah Whitehead.

On Tuesday morning, the 6-foot-5, 208-pound Seton Hall sophomore won the Haggerty Award presented to the top Division 1 player by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association. In beating out other top contenders like Stony Brook's Jameel Warney, Iona's A.J. English and Monmouth's Justin Robinson, Whitehead became the first Pirate to win the award since Andre Barrett in 2004.

Warney, English, Robinson, Sacred Heart's Cane Broome (who has since transferred to Cincinnati), Columbia's Maodo Lo and Hofstra's Juan'ya Green made up the rest of the first-team All-Met.

DENVER -- Ten years of waiting boiled down to 40 minutes of game play for the Seton Hall Pirates Thursday night at the Pepsi Center.

The No. 6 seeded Pirates were bounced from their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2006 as quickly as they got there - losing to No. 11 seed Gonzaga, 68-52, in the first round.

Isaiah Whitehead, the man responsible for steering the Pirate ship to a Big East Tournament championship, ended the game with 10 points. Whitehead shot 4-24 from the field, including an NCAA Tournament record-tying 0--for-10 clip from three-point range.

DENVER -- After winning the Big East Tournament championship at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, Isaiah Whitehead got a text from an old friend and teammate.

Kamari Murphy, a redshirt junior forward for Miami and Whitehead's former Lincoln High school teammate, was texting to offer congratulations.

"I mean Kamari's always been a brother to me basically since I was a freshman in high school when we played on the same team," the 6-foot-4 Whitehead said in Denver where Seton Hall will play Gonzaga in a first-round Midwest Region game on Thursday. "But I've been following him a lot, he's been having a tremendous season so far. I mean, he just hit me up after the Big East Tournament and told me to keep ballin', just keep playing my game. Just stay confident and all the good things will happen."

During the Seton Hall game, Morton and Lincoln were awaiting their own contest, which turned out to be a 96-54 beatdown of Queens High School of Teaching in the PSAL AA quarterfinals at Baruch. Lincoln will next meet Westinghouse in the semifinals on Saturday at St. John's.
