It will be Dal Colle's first trip to the Memorial Cup final in his junior hockey career. The 18-year-old forward has made his mark through three games in the Canadian Hockey League tournament. Dal Colle is tied for the scoring lead with five points (two goals, three assists).
The success in the Memorial Cup is a continuation of a strong 2014-15 season for Dal Colle, who led the Generals in scoring during the regular season. He had 93 points (42 goals, 51 assists) in 56 games and the produced 31 points (eight goals, 23 assists) in the Ontario Hockey League playoffs.
Dal Colle's performance is another testament to what the Islanders have in their farm system. The fifth overall pick in 2014 appears to be on the right path to make an impact on the Isles' roster sometime in the future. Ideally you would hope to see him play on the wing of John Tavares on the top line in a few years. Right now, his success in juniors is a good sign that Dal Colle is developing on the right course.
He will not be making the jump to the NHL for at least another year or two, but Dal Colle's future is looking bright if he continues his success.
The Memorial Cup final will take place on Sunday, May 31 at 7 p.m.
