[sny-box]The Least You Should Know About the Red Wings... Detroit enters Saturday afternoon's contest off a loss to the Tampa Lightning on Thursday. Prior to that the Red Wings had been on a six game win streak... Henrik Zetterberg leads the Red Wings in points with 45 (15 goals, 30 assists) in 49 games this season. Tomas Tatar holds the team lead in goals with 21... Detroit recalled defenseman Alexey Marchenko from AHL Grand Rapids of Friday.[/sny-box]
The Islanders success against the Detroit Red Wings has been pretty well documented.
They are hoping to keep their success going when they face the Red Wings this afternoon. The Isles are 1-1 in their first two games since the All-Star break. A 4-1 win against the Rangers was dampened a bit by the 5-2 loss they to the Boston Bruins Thursday.
Casey Cizikas was also banged up during the Boston loss and may miss Saturday's contest. The Islanders recalled Colin McDonald from Bridgeport, but Islanders' Coach Jack Capuano would not say if he would play.
Capuano will address reporters at noon to discuss the lineup and upcoming matchup.
If Cizikas does not play, Ryan Strome will likely take his place as the fourth line center. The fourth line has been a big part of the Islanders' success this season and their aggressive, up-tempo style has given opposing teams fits. The mindset of the two other members of that line will not change too much if Strome is there, according to Matt Martin.
"I think for me and [Cal Clutterbuck] we play the same way," Martin explained. "You might put the puck in [Strome's] hands a little bit more, because he's a guy that loves to possess the puck. He has a ton of talent and sees the ice so well and can make a lot of plays. It changes the dynamic a little bit I think. Me, Casey and Clutter really like to chip pucks in and grind it down and cycle the puck. Where I think with Strome we'll focus on getting him the puck and getting open.
"...We'll try and get open for him, get to the net, be physical and get some room for him if he happens to be on our line."
Colin McDoanld will also likely be in the lineup if Cizikas is out. He practiced on Friday with the third line.
The Red Wings will have Petr Mrazek start in goal. He is 10-4-1 in 16 appearances this season.
