[sny-box]The Least You Should Know About the Capitals... Washington has struggled lately, as they had a seven game losing streak in mid-January. They're currently 3-5-3 in their last 10... Alex Ovechkin will be looking for his 40th goal of the year. It would be his first 40-goal season since 2009-10... Philipp Grubauer is another backup who has impressed, with a .926 SVP in 16 games...[/sny-box]
After a three day break -- one that's seemed an awful lot longer with the Vanek news -- the Islanders are back in action tonight against their first non-Ranger opponent in more than a week. They'll travel to Washington to play the Capitals in front of the whole continent on TSN2 and NBCSN.
Washington is facing a couple injuries; both Mike Green and Mikhail Grabovski will miss tonight's game. Brooks Laich is banged up with a groin injury and will play tonight, but he'll be limited to the team's fourth line. Michal Neuvirth will be in net, which isn't bad news for the Isles. Neuvirth has a .910 SVP in 12 games this season.
The Islanders will start a rested Evgeni Nabokov in net. The rest of the lineup is TBD, although we do know that Carkner is out and Boulton is in. Thomas Vanek? Also in the lineup.[sny-box]
