Thomas Greiss will be in net Thursday night when the Islanders play the Blackhawks, head coach Jack Capuano said.
Alan Quine will replace Anthony Beauvillier, who will be a healthy scratch.
I mean...what can I even say? This is ridiculous. What was the point of keeping Beauvillier up here all year just to shuffle him in and out of the lineup. How can anyone justify this?
I said on the Point Blank Podcast on Wednesday that guys like Beauvillier and Quine should be played every day. How are they going to get better without getting consistent playing time? Meanwhile, veterans who have looked absolutely atrocious all season (Jason Chimera, Andrew Ladd) aren't even given the consideration of a benching.
How is that supposed to make a young player like Beauvillier, who has been one of the Isles' better forwards all season, feel? What kind of message is this sending about merit and personal responsibility?
It's bogus. For goodness sake, guys. Stop this madness.
