The Islanders enter closer to the bottom half of the NHL, as far as odds go, despite making the playoffs the past season.
New York went 48-27-7 and finished second in the Metropolitan Division under first-year head coach Barry Trotz.
The Islanders last made the final in 1984, falling to the Edmonton Oilers, on the heels of four straight Stanley Cups (1980-83).
