Islanders' Mathew Barzal turned some heads last season and is being recognized as one of the best players in the league.
According to NHL Network, Barzal is the 49th best player in the NHL. The second-year man is expected to pick up much of the offensive burden left by departing John Tavares.
Last season, Barzal led the team with 85 points (22 goals, 63 assists).
Barzal won the 2018 Calder Trophy winner as the NHL's top rookie last season, receiving 160 first-place votes.Canucks' Brock Boeser came closest in that category with two votes.
Barzal, who was picked by the Islanders 16th overall in 2015, become the fifth Islanders player to receive the award. Denis Potvin, Bryan Trottier, Mike Bossy, and Bryan Berard.
