Jaro Halak needed a big game in the worst possible way, and he came up huge. Unfortunately, not huge enough. After being pulled in Tampa, then called out by Jack Capuano postgame, Halak was not only the team's best penalty killer tonight, but probably the best man on the ice. The soft, game-tying goal with 13.6 was an absolutely killer, but without Jaro, the Isles probably don't even walk away with a point.
Still, this loss will leave a terrible taste in the Isles' mouths, and for good reason. It's a game they couldn't afford to let get away, but they did anyway. There just isn't much to really take solace in right now. It seems like for every good development, there are three setbacks. Where are the answers going to come from? I'm just at a loss.
If I had to look for a bright side, it's the play of Brock Nelson, who really was presence in front of the net all night, and it resulted in two goals. Now if only we could get any kind of consistency from the forwards.
