The Islanders signed 20-year-old defenseman David Quenneville to a three-year entry-level deal, the team announced Friday.
Quenneville, the Islanders' seventh-round pick in 2016, led the WHL with 80 points this season, scoring 26 goals and totaling 54 assists in 70 games for the Medicine Hat Tigers.
A 5-foot-8, 187-pound defenseman, Quenneville has played for Medicine Hat for four full seasons. He totaled 23 goals, 36 assists and 59 points in 49 games last year.
Quenneville's second cousin is Chicago Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville and his uncle by marriage is Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk.
