The Islanders dropped their fifth straight game as the Penguins shut them out at Barclays Center, 4-0, Friday night. << Box Score
No offense came in the first period, but the Penguins changed that early in the second when Daniel Sprong got one passed Jaroslav Halak just 41 seconds into the period.
After Ryan Pulock was called for tripping at 2:09, Evgeni Malkin capitalized on the power play. Sidney Crosby would notch his third point of a four-point night on a goal at 15:50 in the period to break it wide open.
Sprong would add his second goal of the night at 13:28 in the third period, which would be the dagger in any hopes for an Isles comeback.
Halak finished the night with 34 saves, while Tristan Jarry finished his shutout with 31 saves.
