Bruins F Brad Marchand did not face punishment by the NHL after hitting John Tavares up high during the Bruins' 3-1 win over the Islanders on Saturday.
The hit slammed Tavares into the wall and onto the ground. Marchand was slapped with a penalty (interference) for the hit.
When asked about the hit, Tavares said "the video speaks for itself," according to the New York Post. Islanders head coach Doug Weight expressed his dismay after the league decided not to hand down punishment.
"Things are targeted, things happen spontaneously," Weight said Monday. "But to me, the ones that are premeditated, it's unfortunate when we only look at results. So if Johnny lies there and he is hurt, there'd probably be something done. I don't know the logic in that."
