The Islanders have announced that University of Denver defender Scott Mayfield has left college early and signed a three-year entry level contract with the team. Mayfield, a second round pick of the Islanders in 2011, decided to leave school after completing his sophomore year.

Mayfield had 112 penalty minutes, 17 points and three goals in 39 games for Denver this season. He joins Andrey Pedan and Ryan Strome in Bridgeport, two other Islanders from the 2011 draft class. Mayfield will report to Bridgeport on an ATO this year, with the ELC kicking in next season.
