The Islanders have announced that Scott Pellerin has been hired to coach the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Pellerin has spent the past six seasons as an assistant coach of the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL.

In a team issued press release General Manager Garth Snow said “Scott brings tremendous experience to our organization, from not only coaching, but also his playing career. Over the past six seasons with the Manchester Monarchs, he has developed numerous prospects into everyday NHL players, including current Islander Matt Moulson. We look forward to seeing that continuing trend with our young prospects.”

Pellerin played for 13 seasons in the NHL and scored 72 goals and added 126 assists in 536 games for the Devils, Blues, Wild, Hurricanes, Bruins, Stars and Coyotes.

In the press release, Pellerin said “I look forward to working closely with Jack Capuano, while at the same time developing the young prospects within the organization into everyday NHL players.”
