On Thursday night, the Islanders played their last home game of the season. For John Tavares, it could be his last home game as a member of the team.
Tavares' contract is up after the season and he will be one of the most coveted free agents of the summer. After the game, Tavares tried to downplay its significance and reaffirmed his public desire to stay with the team.
"I'm not trying to look at it as it's the end, because obviously that hasn't been determined," Tavares said via Brian Compton of NHL.com "I've always wanted it to work out and stay, so that's still what I hope transpires."
When asked if it felt like 'just another game' Tavares simply responded with "yep."
John Tavares: all business, all the time.
