Home cooking just hasn't been the same for the New York Islanders as of late. The Islanders have failed to win in their last six home contests and have dropped six of their last seven games.
They have managed to catch a break with the Pittsburgh Penguins going through a slump of their own, keeping the Islanders in second place in the Metropolitan Division.
The Ducks (47-22-7) are first in both the Pacific Division and Western Conference. A win this afternoon would secure the Ducks a spot in the playoffs.
The Islanders will change up their lineup a bit for the afternoon matinee. Anders Lee moves back to the top line with John Tavares and Josh Bailey. Kyle Okposo will play on the wing with Frans Nielsen and Nikolay Kulemin. Lubomir Visnovsky will return from a lower body injury. He will take Calvin de Haan's spot on the blue line.
Michal Neuvirth will start in net for the Islanders. Frederik Andersen will start for the Ducks.
This afternoon is the first time the Islanders and Ducks have seen one another since November 5, when the Islanders beat them 3-2 in OT.
