The Islanders didn't get off to the greatest start against the Kings on Saturday night, falling behind 2-0 in the first period. Currently stuck in a poor run of form, the negative momentum could have been too much for the Isles to overcome.
But Doug Weight's top line of John Tavares, Anders Lee and Josh Bailey together scored the next three goals of the game, evenly distributed with one each, paving the way for the Isles 4-3 OT win, halting a two-game losing streak. Weight spoke after the game on the trio's importance.
"They are in one right now," head coach Doug Weight said, via Cory Wright of the Islanders official site. "They are a special line, a special group and three special players. They're rolling and we have to ride them."
Tavares, Lee and Bailey will look to keep it going against the Red Wings at home on Tuesday night.
