The Mets-Phillies rivalry has trickled down to Triple-A.

A stunt pulled by the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley caused the Syracuse Mets to become "infuriated," according to a report by Syracuse.com.

When Jacob Rhame entered to warm up for the sixth inning Monday, a video played in Lehigh Valley's stadium of Rhys Hoskins' 34-second home run trot from last week after he homered off Rhame. The night before, Rhame threw a pitch that went by Hoskins' head, so Hoskins took his sweet time when he got his revenge the next night.

The Mets are optioning suspended pitcher Jacob Rhame to Triple-A Syracuse Friday in order to create room for Jacob deGrom. They also sent Luis Guillorme to Syracuse and recalled Corey Oswalt.

DeGrom was activated from the 10-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Brewers, weather permitting, after a Monday MRI on his right elbow came back clean. DeGrom will start Friday regardless of whether there's a rain delay, and will pitch Saturday if the game's rained out.

Mets reliever Jacob Rhame has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball for throwing a pitch that sailed behind Rhys Hoskins of the Phillies on Tuesday night.

Here is the statement from MLB, which was released by Chief Baseball Officer Joe Torre.

"New York Mets pitcher Jacob Rhame has received a two-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally throwing a pitch in the area of the head of Rhys Hoskins of the Philadelphia Phillies during the top of the ninth inning of Tuesday night's game at Citi Field. Unless appealed, the suspension of Rhame is scheduled to begin on Friday, when the Mets are to host the Milwaukee Brewers. If Rhame elects to file an appeal, then the discipline issued to him will be held in abeyance until the process is complete."

The Mets (13-11) fell back in a first-place tie in the NL East after they lost to the Phillies 6-0 on Wednesday. They are off Thursday before beginning a three-game series at Citi Field against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.

Here's what went down on Wednesday:

While Jason Vargas allowed just one run in 4 2/3 innings, the Mets left nine runners on base and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position in Wednesday's 6-0 loss to Philadelphia.

Mets lose finale to Phillies 00:00:55
New York Mets shortstop third baseman Todd Frazier and manager Mickey Callaway are ready to move on from Rhys Hoskins' slow trot.

The Phillies and Mets had some tension heading into the final game of their series at Citi Field on Wednesday night.

On Tuesday with Rhys Hoskins at the plate in the top of the ninth, Jacob Rhame threw too fastball -- one behind Hoskins and the other around his head -- that saw both benches begin to clear. Some believed Rhame could have been sending a message after two Mets were hit by pitches in Monday's opener.

Well, Hoskins got his revenge tonight, hitting a homer to left field off Rhame. And he milked it....

Though Jason Vargas had a pretty solid outing, the Mets couldn't muster any offense against Vince Velasquez in a 6-0 shutout at Citi Field on Wednesday night.  >> Box score

Six things to know about Wednesday's game...

1) Vargas didn't go deep in this one, but he did manage to only allow one run over his 4.2-inning start. He allowed three hits and walked two while striking out four. The Mets are sticking with Vargas as their fifth starter, and it shows as Gio Gonzalez went to the Brewers on Wednesday. This is an encouraging outing that they are making the right choice.

Wheeler shuts down Phillies 00:01:15
New York Mets pitcher Zack Wheeler had an amazing performance against the Phillies both on the mound and at the plate.

Zack Wheeler had himself a night at Citi Field on Wednesday, as his pitching -- and hitting -- led the way to a Mets shoutout of the Phillies, 9-0.   >> Box score

Six things to know about Tuesday's game...

1) Wheeler absolutely shutdown the Phillies' offense with a strong performance on the bump, allowing five scattered hits and no runs over seven innings. The walks that have plagued him too didn't appear in this one, as he struck out 11 and didn't allow a free pass. Oh, Wheeler also helped himself at the plate. He not only ripped a two-RBI double to put the Mets on the board first, but he launched his first career homer as well for a total three RBI on the night.

Things got a bit testy at the end of the Mets' 9-0 win over the Phillies on Tuesday night at Citi Field.

With two outs in the ninth inning, Mets reliever Jacob Rhame zipped a pitch behind Rhys Hoskins' head, who did not appreciate it.

Hoskins began walking toward the mound and both benches began to clear but nothing further escalated as Hoskins was stopped by home plate umpire Scott Barry.

The Mets couldn't get things going at the plate in St. Louis on Saturday, as the Cardinals handed them a 10-2 loss. >> Box score

Five things to know about Saturday's game...

1) Chris Flexen got the spot start for the Mets in place of Jacob degrom, who was placed on the IL with a sore elbow. He didn't fare well against the Cards, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits over 4.1 innings. While he didn't record a strikeout, he allowed four walks in his outing as well.

Todd Frazier is continuing his slow crawl back to the Mets, with his rehab stint shifting to Triple-A Syracuse and his activation necessary by early next week unless he has a setback.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway spoke earlier this week about Frazier's return, saying what was already known -- Frazier will not be the full-time starter at third base. Instead, he will split time there with J.D. Davis and -- when he isn't in the outfield -- Jeff McNeil.

The Mets have some choices to make when Frazier returns and are in for some really hard playing time choices when Jed Lowrie comes back. For now, the focus is on Frazier. Here's how things could shake out when he returns...

Drew Gagnon, who was on short rest, came in to Tuesday night's game after Steven Matz failed to get an out. Gagnon allowed five runs, but saved the Mets' bullpen by eating up 5.1 innings. His reward? A demotion to Triple-A Syracuse.

The demotion isn't an indictment on Gagnon, though. It's a move being made out of necessity in order for the Mets to add a fresh arm to the bullpen. And that fresh arm is Jacob Rhame.

Rhame, 26, has struggled so far this season for Syracuse, posting a 9.53 ERA and 1.58 WHIP while walking five and striking out seven in 5.2 innings (six appearances).

The Triple-A Syracuse Mets have announced their Opening Day roster, and as expected, Tim Tebow is officially on it.

Tebow will continue his unlikely quest toward reaching the majors with the Mets' new Triple-A affiliate after playing 84 games with Double-A Binghamton last season. The 31-year-old former quarterback went 4-for-15 in Spring Training with one RBI and one walk.

He's among several familiar names on the squad. Carlos GomezRajai Davis, and Gregor Blanco are in an outfield which includes Tebow and Rymer Liriano.

Manager Mickey Callaway said Swarzak's MRI showed "just a little bit of inflammation" and that he believes the right-hander will only be on the disabled list for a short period of time.

After Steven Matz was lit up for seven runs in less than an inning of work, the Nationals continued to pile onto the Mets' bullpen on Tuesday night in what was the most lopsided loss in Mets history.

Jacob Rhame and Jose Reyes allowed six runs apiece, while Tim Peterson and Tyler Bashlor allowed three runs.

In need of bullpen help with the current group struggling and overworked, the Mets called up RH reliever Tim Peterson and LH reliever Buddy Baumann from Triple-A Las Vegas, and RHP Scott Copeland from Double-A Binghamton before Wednesday's game against the Braves in Atlanta.

With one 25-man roster spot already open, the Mets only had to send two players -- INF Phillip Evans and RH reliever Jacob Rhame -- to Triple-A to make room on the roster.

Aside from the 25-man roster moves, the Mets made two 40-man roster moves in order to make room for Peterson and Copeland, transferring Juan Lagares to the 60-day DL and designating P.J. Conlon for assignment.
