The 28-year-old has played in only 25 games, averaging 13.7 points and 4.9 assists.

Linsanity took the Garden by storm. It took New York by storm. It took the NBA by storm. In fact, Linsanity made waves throughout sports, as well as music, TV and pop culture.

It also sparked a bidding war between the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets, one in which the Rockets won by handing Jeremy Lin -- an unknown-turned-fan favorite point guard -- a three-year, $25.1 million deal to be a part of the revamped Rockets roster.

But for that amount of dough, Lin's 2012-13 season in which he averaged 13 points and 6 assists, did not live up to the expectations.

On Saturday night, the Nets were defeated by the Houston Rockets by a final score of 119-106.

The Skinny: Deron Williams scored the first nine Nets? points of the contest on 3-of-3 shooting. But the rest of the team managed to hit just one of its first 10 from the floor. Williams did not miss a shot in the first quarter and finished with 20 points. James Harden though was active all over the floor with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Brooklyn led by one after one.

Houston took the lead on a 7-0 run to start the second quarter. Williams limped off early in the second quarter after appearing to roll his ankle. Once he went off, the Nets could not muster anything offensively, allowing the Rockets to open a 13-point lead. Even with D-Will back, the Rockets increased their lead to 18 points as part of a 25-6 extended run. Brooklyn cut the lead back to nine, but Houston closed out the half leading by 13.

While appearing on 'The Mike Lupica Show' on ESPN New York 98.7 FM, former Knicks head coach Larry Brown said that the Knicks declining to match Houston's three-year, back-loaded $25.1 million offer sheet to Lin was a sound business move. Brown, currently the head coach at Southern Methodist University, went on to say he viewed Lin as a 'terrific backup.'

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Steve Novak hoped Linsanity would return to New York, but he agrees that Houston's back-loaded, poison pill contract offer was "ridiculous."

"It can be looked at as a ridiculous contract in the sense that it's a $5 [million], a $5 [million] and a $15 [million over the first three years]," Novak told SNY.tv Wednesday at the Steve Novak Basketball Camp at Sleepy Hollow High School.

"It is kind of ridiculous in terms of the structure. I don't think in terms of Jeremy's value that it's ridiculous. I think everybody knows that. He's very valuable....I wasn't there when Carmelo said it but 'ridiculous contract,' I think probably means more the fact that there's a max offer being offered in the third year when the first two was a five."

A surreal 72-hour period has now come to this. Linsanity is heading to Texas.

Knicks General Manager Glen Grunwald and head coach Mike Woodson had stood firm since the free agency negotiating period opened on July 1 that Lin would be back. Last week, Woodson went as far as to say that the team would 'absolutely' match the offer.

If Lin ends up in Houston, as has been reported, Davis said big things will be expected of him because of his contract.

The Knicks can offer Lin a four-year deal worth $24.5 million. But an opposing team can offer Lin a poison pill that could go as high as $40 million over four years. Such a contract would pay Lin $5 million in each of the first two years and then go as high as $15 million in each of the last two years.

Matching such a contract would give the Knicks four players -- Lin,?Carmelo Anthony,?Amare Stoudemire?and?Tyson Chandler?-- making more than $14 million in the 2014-2015 season. Those four players alone would have a combined salary of $72 million, nearly $2 million above the luxury tax.

People ask me a lot about Lin's shooting form and the first thing I look at is rotation, after rotation is release in terms of height. Lin will always get his shot off at this level if he releases at a 50 degree angle, another example as to why the Lin phenomenon seems to be sustainable.

Here's a quick look at the top point-guards that Lin will face the rest of this season.

  1. 2/20, 4/18 - Deron Williams : The rematch of D-Will vs. Lin should be a fun one to watch, Lin started his reign of LINSANTIY against Williams back on the 4th of Feb. Lin cooked D-Will for 27 and 7.
  2. 2/23, 4/15 - Lebron & D-Wade : The HEAT are tearing teams to shreds as of late, and the trap defenses that those two put on ball handlers mirrors Scottie and MJ. Scary. Lets see how Lin handles the MIA pressure.
  3. 3/4 Rajon Rondo : Rondo is one of, if not the best PG defenders( Take it easy CP3 heads, we'll get there). Lin is essentially playing the Rondo role moving forward, he will have the responsibilities of getting STAT, Melo, and now JR involved. Be sure to check the Box Score after this game, should be interesting.
  4. 3/9, 3/26, 4/11 Brandon Jennings : These 3 games can be very important to the Knicks playoffs seating, the Knicks have struggled to contain Jennings in the past. BJ went off for his season high(36) during their first meeting back in Jan. Lin should be able to get past Jennings fairly easy, and could go for big numbers against the Bucks.
  5. 3/12,4/8,4/10 Derrick Rose : The reigning MVP is the ultimate assignment for Lin. Even with a aching back, Rose is still one of the the toughest tasks for any defender. Don't expect huge scoring for Lin these nights, but the team involvement that he can bring should be fun or painful watch.
  6. 4/25 Chris Paul : The should have been, almost, we all wished for CP3 will visit MSG right before the regular season ends. This game could be utterly pointless or extremely important depending on the Knicks record. Either way, Lin vs. CP3 is the pinnacle of Point-Guard battles. Hopefully "LINSANITY" is still alive and well by then.

New York?s Salsa Sensation Gives Way to Lin-sanity

They say if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere.

Nothing though, is usually mentioned about young, phenom athletes doing that unexpectedly and instantaneously.

[blackbirdpie url="https://twitter.com/#!/landryfields/status/168550788870832128"]Not to sound like a Tony Robbins, but the power of faith is amazing. It has Tim Tebow winning playoff games and Jeremy Lin resurrecting the New York Knicks. When I mention "Faith", I hope I'm not overshadowing their work ethic, we've all heard stories of Tebow winning weightlifting contests, and Lin has videos of him pushing himself in trainings to become great. The "Faith" aspect I'm alluding to is the outspoken Christianity that they preserve deeply and outwardly.? Tebow has the "Tebow Celebration" which became the new "Planking", but Lin's faith hasn't been publicized in the same fashion, yet. There roads to stardom has differences, Lin himself said last night in the post-game interviews, but there "Faith" is one of the same.

Blind faith is a powerful force, it can make the impossible possible, used wrongly it can hurt individuals. The terrorist group Al-Qaeda believed that they were doing "Gods Work" by flying the planes into the Towers. That was the worst scenario of peoples "Faith" being used incorrectly, but their Faith was mind-boggling. Don't get anything twisted, 911, was horrible and the saddest moment in American history, my only reference is the Faith those terrible men had. Lin's and Tebow's faith allows them to overcome leaps and bounds that most analysts foreseen for them coming up through their careers.
