Over the next month or so, we're going to be reviewing some of the top draft prospects at each position to assess some potential candidates that the Jets will show interest in. We continue today with a look at the 2019 wide receiver class.

Jets needs: wide receivers

Having signed Quincy Enunwa to an extension and Robby Anderson to a restricted free agency tender, the Jets should have their two leading receivers from last year back in the fold. However, they don't currently have much beyond those two. Charone Peake is still under contract and Andre Roberts could be re-signed, but most of their contributions in 2018 were on special teams.

The NFL's offseason is now underway it's going to be one of the most important in the history of the Jets' franchise. They have a new coach, they have a franchise quarterback, and they have about $100 million in salary cap room to spend on a relatively barren roster.

General Manager Mike Maccagnan can turn things around quickly. Or he could turn the Jets into an even bigger mess.

He's already begun making his plans to reshape the roster for the 2019 season, of course, and beginning Monday he can start to put that plan into action. The big day for the Jets will be the start of NFL free agency on March 13, but there will be plenty of cuts, restructured contracts and other maneuvers in the next few weeks as they get ready.

Add Jets WR Jermaine Kearse to the list of NFL players that doesn't support the new anthem policy.

Jets players are in a different boat than other teams, though, as co-owner Christopher Johnson has been active in discussing racial and social justice issues -- the source behind kneeling -- with his team. Johnson has also said that he would pay any fine the league dishes out to the Jets if a player does decide to kneel this season. No Jets player has knelt in the past.

But, looking at the big picture, Kearse says the new policy misses the point the players are trying to make.

Jets WR Jermaine Kearse notched his first touchdowns with the team in the loss to the Raiders on Sunday.

Kearse and another Jets newcomer, QB Josh McCown, have found chemistry early this season. McCown found the 27-year-old seven times for 59 yards in the season opener against the Bills.

Bent, theJetsBlog.com Follow on TwitterKearse continued his strong start as a Jet by leading them with 64 yards on four catches, including two touchdowns. He showed some veteran smarts with a subtle push-off on the first touchdown and made a tough catch with a defender draped over him for his other score. However, his other three catches -- one of which was negated by a penalty -- were short of the first down marker. >> Read more about the receivers and the Jets' offensive performance in Bent's Game Analysis.
