Jermichael Finley

The Jermichael Finley saga rages on, as the star TE seeks to gain medical clearance on his surgically-repaired neck. From Rotoworld:

Free agent Jermichael Finley (neck) will undergo another round of tests Wednesday, and will send the results to all 32 teams.

Finley hopes to have a job when most training camps open next week, and points to the Packers as his most likely landing spot, though the Steelers have made an offer. "It's all a waiting game," Finley said. "Pittsburgh have showed me a couple deals, but we all know the money ain't what it's supposed to be. If I quit the game right now, I can take tax-free money, and that's a difficult thing that I'm going through with myself." If Finley were to never play another down in the NFL, he can collect $10 million. He plans to bypass that and continue his career. The Giants have approximately $6.875 in cap space. Whether or not that will be enough to sign Finley, should he be deemed healthy, remains to be seen. I'm guessing his price is more in the $3 million per year range due to the nature of his injury, but you never know.

Green Bay Packers' TE Jermichael Finley, who has yet to be medically cleared for action after undergoing neck surgery last year, could be back with his old club when he finally does get clearance. From Rotoworld:

When asked about free agent Jermichael Finley on Wednesday, coach Mike McCarthy said, "In my mind, he's a Green Bay Packer, hopefully.""He's going through a tough medical situation that we all recognize is a serious injury," McCarthy continued. "My understanding is he's doing everything and beyond to get himself ready, and we'll continue to watch that." This comes two days after GM Ted Thompson reportedly wouldn't rule out re-signing Finley. The Packers did little to improve at tight end this offseason, re-signing Andrew Quarless and drafting underwhelming Cal product Richard Rodgers. Finley still needs the medical green light. A return to the Packers would appear to be in the best interest for both sides.? (Source: NFL.com)
The Giants are one of several teams besides the Packers who have shown interest in Finley this past offseason. Seattle and Miami both had contact with Finley, but the star TE is still not ready to return to the field.

Finley has a relationship with new Giants' OC Ben McAdoo from their days in Green Bay. The Giants currently have five TEs on their 90-man roster: Adrien Robinson, Larry Donnell, Kellen Davis, Daniel Fells and rookie Xavier Grimble.

  • The Jets are definitely interested in Jeff Cumberland, who was re-signed to a three year deal. Continuity with upside. [TheJetsBlog]
  • Henne re-signed in Jacksonville. ?Take the Jaguars off the table as a landing spot for Vick. [ESPN]
  • DeMarcus Ware was asked by the cash strapped Cowboys to take a cut ... ah, but will he? [RapSheet]

During the Super Bowl, Giants? outspoken safety Antrel Rolle sat next to Packers? free-agent tight end Jermichael Finley, and the two talked about potentially playing together as members of Big Blue.

Rolle commented on what a talented player Finley is and that he could really help the 2014 Giants.

I couldn?t agree more, Antrel.

By now, you?ve probably read every breakdown possible of Sunday?s win. If you?re like me, you basked in the glow Sunday night and let the party continue through the parade/rally and possibly through the rest of the work week.

It was a thing of beauty in my eyes, to be present at MetLife stadium on Tuesday with thousands of other Giants fanatics that played grownup hooky to be a part of Big Blue?s 4TH Super Bowl Title. But for a brief moment, my attention was diverted from the glory of the present and redirected to a cold Saturday night 6 years ago.
