Ralph Vacchiano reports on his blog for the New York Daily News that Jessie Armstead, five-time Pro Bowl linebacker and a key component of the 2000-01 NFC championship Giants team, is coming home to work as a "special assistant/consultant."

Armstead spent several years (including this summer) as a voluntary coach and now takes on an official position in the organization. According to Vacchiano he will be working on ?special projects? and help Charles Way, another former player and the team?s director of player development. Giants GM Jerry Reese released a statement that included this description of Armstead's role.
