The 2-2 Jets are finding inspiration from doubters who predicted the team would go winless this season.
Somebody anonymously placed an article in the Jets' locker room that predicted the Jets would go winless, reports NJ Advance Media, and on it the person wrote "Don't forget what they stated about us. Never be content - never. Get juiced."
The new-look Jets entered the season having completely revamped their team, shedding many veterans such as Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall, and Nick Mangold. Despite low expectations, the team has won two of their first four games.
"It was all offseason: 'The Jets are going to be 0-16,'" LB Jordan Jenkins said to NJ Advance Media. "That's pretty much on my mind before every game. "I looked at (the note), and in my head, I was like, 'Don't worry, I ain't forgot what the heck nobody said.' I still remember all that kind of stuff. I don't need any reminder in the slightest."
Jets TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who missed time entering the season due to a suspension, also recalled the widespread expectations that the Jets would struggle to win a game this season.
"I mean, I'm not forgetting," he said. "It's disrespectful to everybody in the locker room [the preseason 0-16 talk, he means]. I'm not forgetting that. They didn't think we were good enough to win one game, so they definitely don't think we're good enough to win three games. We take that [expletive] to heart."
The Jets will look to climb above .500 this weekend when they travel to Cleveland to face the Browns on Sunday at 1 p.m.
