Acting Jets GM Adam Gase continued to make moves on Tuesday, signing WR Deonte Thompson after reportedly firing scout Bill DeKraker.
Gase waived TE Jordan Leggett on Monday, and also signed punter Matt Barr.
Gase, who is the acting GM in the wake of the firing of Mike Maccagnan while the team searches for its full-time replacement, said Monday that the removal of Maccagnan was not part of a power struggle.
"I disagree with that, as far as a power struggle," Gase said. "Whoever is hired is going to have the same role (Maccagnan had) -- control of the roster, control of the 53," Gase said. "I will coach the team. That's what I'm going to do. Nothing has changed with that structure."
While Gase said Monday that "nothing has changed," the Thompson signing was his fourth move in two days.
Thompson, 30, saw limited action in 2018 for the Cowboys and Bills, playing in 13 games and reeling in 17 catches.
He began his career with the Ravens in 2012 and his best season came with the Bills in 2017, when he had 27 catches for 430 yards (seven of his catches went for 20+ yards) in 11 games.
