Former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is a hot name on the head coaching market, and one of his former quarterbacks thinks a marriage with the Jets would be a perfect match.
Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio, former Jets and Packers QB Brett Favre said he believes McCarthy heading to New York or Cleveland would be the best place for him.
Why? The young quarterback situation.

"I think he's a great choice for any of these teams, but those two in particular because the quarterback situation," Favre said.
Favre, who played under McCarthy in 2006 and 2007 with Green Bay before joining the Jets, explained how his former coach truly understood how to work his offense around his quarterback's strengths and weaknesses.
"I think what's important with a coach and a quarterback is understanding their strengths and their weaknesses and where they are in their developmental stage and how you call plays and how much you place upon that," Favre said. "Too many times I think coaches place too much on a young quarterback. As you see them grow, you maybe add to, 'OK, can you handle the protection part of it?' You kinda do that slowly.
"I think Mike does a really good job of that. I think also Mike is a very good coach in regards to discipline and toughness. He's going to ingrain toughness into his players."
Jets QB Sam Darnold has a full year under his belt, and with the team looking for an experienced coach with an offensive mind, McCarthy fits the bill. The Browns, though, also have the same situation with QB Baker Mayfield to go along with playmakers like Jarvis Landry to work with.
There hasn't been an official date set for an interview with McCarthy, but he has indicated that he will take one with the Jets. In 13 seasons with the Packers, McCarthy has been to the playoffs nine times, NFC Championship four times, and won a Super Bowl back in 2010. McCarthy is the most accomplished coach on the market, which is why he is in high demand during this interview process around the league.
Other than McCarthy, the Jets also have an interview set with USC offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury (who Jamal Adams wants to win the job hunt), and Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy completed his interview with the team on Wednesday.
