The 27-year old Davis started all 16 games last year for the Bears, playing 980 snaps, but was released last week after the Bears secured the signing of Martellus Bennett. It was hoped that Davis could fill the void left by Greg Olsen's departure to Carolina, but he proved to be a disappointment. Last season, he dropped eight passes and had a catch rate of just 43%. He is a capable blocker with terrific size and does run pretty well though. He's also been a reasonably useful red zone threat with 12 touchdowns over the past four seasons, including five in 2011.
