Now Commenting On:

Cornerback Dimitri Patterson is visiting the Jets on Monday (Martin, March 31).

Patterson played the last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, starting six games. He had 24 total tackles and one sack. He had four interceptions in 2013, his most -- and only -- since 2010 with the Eagles. Patterson has had stints with the Redskins, Vikings, Chiefs, Eagles, Browns and Dolphins.

He is 30-years-old and listed at 5-foot-10-inches and 200 lbs.

Patterson played almost exclusively on the outside when he was healthy last year. However, he suffered a groin injury on opening day and was bothered by that all season, eventually landing on injured reserve.

Patterson made an impact with the Browns in 2011 and 2012 playing primarily in the slot. However, he was again slowed by injuries in 2012 (this time an ankle) and ended up getting picked up on waivers by Miami. He initially struggled at Miami, reportedly because he was more comfortable with physical press coverage than off-coverage and the Dolphins had been playing a lot of zone when he arrived.

While this move would be a stop-gap, it does give them a chance to add another starter level player to their roster and the fact he is comfortable both in the slot or on the outside would provide some much-needed flexibility.
