After all the speculation, we finally have an answer: The Jets will place C.J. Mosley on season ending IR, Adam Gase announced Tuesday afternoon on The Michael Kay Show.

Mosley, who had played in just two games this season after suffering a groin injury back in Week 1, kept himself off IR and away from season ending surgery when the Jets started to win games again.

As the Jets won three straight and were still technically in contention to make the playoffs, Mosley was kept off IR in hope that the Jets continue winning and can throw in their best defensive weapon for a last push for the postseason.

But with their rough loss to the previously winless Bengals this past Sunday, the Jets will most likely be officially eliminated from the final wild card spot this week, if not the next.

Mosley tried to return from the injury earlier this season during Week 7 against the Patriots, but the injury clearly was still affecting the linebacker.

The groin injury wound up not healing properly and getting worse, extending itself up to his lower abdomen.

Despite an obviously disappointing start to his career with the Jets, Mosley will now have a long offseason to heal and prepare for a comeback next year.

With a fresh roster spot now open, the Jets picked up a familiar face in Bennett Jackson off of waivers Tuesday.

Jackson was claimed by the Jets off waivers on Sept 1. earlier this year after he was cut by the Ravens. Jackson was on the active roster for a bit over two weeks before being sent to the practice squad.

Then the Ravens took Jackson back, signing him off the Jets' practice squad on Oct. 15. Jackson appeared in four games for the Ravens this season, taking 55 snaps on special teams and 27 on defense, picking up two total tackles in the process before being cut again on Tuesday and returning to the Jets.
