The Jets continued their opening-drive success when Josh McCown led the team on an eight-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to begin the game.
But the Falcons stuck around, as Matt Bryant drilled four field goals, Matt Ryan threw two touchdown passes, and the running game yielded more than 100 yards on the ground. Once the Falcons took the lead, they took advantage of a botched return by Jeremy Kerley and added to their lead with a field goal.
In all, Tevin Coleman had 82 yards rushing, Devonte Freeman added 41 yards, and Ryan carried the ball six times for 17 yards. Julio Jones had three grabs for 74 yards, while Mohamed Sanu and Austin Hooper each had touchdown receptions.
McCown completed 26 of 33 passes for 257 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Robby Anderson hauled in six passes for 104 yards and a score to pace the Jets. Amid poor weather conditions, the Jets failed to get anything going on the ground.
