While Matt Simms had a fine preseason, if the Jets make Geno Smith their starter it makes perfect sense to have more NFL game experience on the bench, even if it is questionable game experience. Idzik of course still has friends (we would presume) back in Seattle, so a quick call out to Puget Sound would likely give him some confidence in how good a training camp he had. Quinn is running out of chances, but the Jets are in need of a quick fix at the backup spot until Sanchez gets healthy, and this seems to make sense.
As we expected, Santonio has been readying for regular season football and we expect he'll be playing against the Bucs next weekend, potentially matched up on Revis. That is fine, because that leaves Stephen Hill and/or Jeremy Kerley against some sort of Leonard Johnson / Dashon Goldson matchup. Johnson ranked out as the 120th best cornerback in the 2013 preseason and while he'll benefit from Revis, there's room for the Jets to take advantage.
