The Jets may not be practicing, but the front office is still working hard to try to improve the team.

According to the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson, the Jets had a few defensive lineman in the building on Wednesday for workouts, including former first-rounder Shane Ray.

Ray had spent the past four years with the Broncos, who drafted him 23rd overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. However, things weren't working out for the past two seasons, with Ray not starting at all in his 11 games last year. This year, Ray spent time with the Ravens in training camp, but was ultimately cut.

The Missouri product had just 10 combined tackles and one sack. But he did have a solid season in 2016 when he totaled 48 tackles (six for loss), eight sacks, two fumble recoveries with a touchdown and one forced fumble over 16 games (eight starts).

Another pass rusher taken in that 2015 Draft was Nate Orchard, who also found himself at One Jets Drive on Wednesday. He bounced around with the Bills and Chiefs last season, but didn't see much playing time.

Orchard's best season was his rookie year with the Browns, where he totaled 46 combined tackles, three sacks, four tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one interception. He also had a solid year in 2017 with Cleveland, tallying two sacks and 25 tackles with a forced fumble as well.

Other than these two, OLB Jamal Davis, DE Markus Jones, DE Kasim Edebali, and DE Chuck Harris also worked out with the Jets.

Over the Jets first three games, they've only totaled five sacks, which is tied 23rd in the NFL. So GM Joe Douglas could be looking for another body that can boost that pressure on the quarterback and that sack total.
