Wide Receiver - I'm already breaking my own rules. Obviously, I'd love to see both Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards return, but to make this interesting, I'll pretend that Edwards makes a personal decision to take his talents elsewhere. I'd like to see the Jets go after Vikings WR Sidney Rice. Hobbled by a hip injury in 2010, Rice's production waned, but if he's healthy, his size, speed, and the 1312 yards and 8 touchdowns he had in 2009 would be a great addition to the team. Let's not even talk about Brad Smith leaving. In this fantasy, he stays. End of story.
Running Back - To be honest, I don't think I'd change a thing in the backfield. I like LT and Shonn Greene right where they are and am excited to see Greene continue to develop this season.
Defensive Line - Since the pass rush has been an area the Jets have tried to improve in the draft, this is a place where they're looking for raw talent. Enter Charles Johnson, DE. He's young, he's hungry, he had 11.5 sacks last year and more defensive stops and quarterback disruptions than any other defensive end.
Cornerback - If Cromartie leaves, then this is a no-brainer: Nnamdi Asomugha of the Oakland Raiders (I told you this was a fantasy). With him and Revis locking down the defense, expect the Jets' opponents to reach 500 passing yards. Total. All season.
Safety - Here, I'd go after Eric Weddle, who's shown exceptional range and presence as a FS for the Chargers.
This lists has some gaps, and since this is nothing but opinion, I expect some of you might disagree with my choices. Who would you go after? Why?
