A source close to Shonn Greene says the running back adamantly denied advocating for a quarterback change. Greene plans to clarify his statements later today.I saw this coming as soon as I read the quotes in the article - it's easy to read the quotes from Mike Silver and construe it as Yahoo! has, but it was also some sort of roundabout comment in support of Sanchez.
Of course today Greene's comments will be prepared, measured and will be coached up by the PR team. They'll think of a way to explain it ... but no matter what's said today, Shonn Greene allowed publicly yesterday that players are thinking about 'what if' scenarios that don't involve Mark Sanchez.
UPDATE: Here's a clip from quotes Shonn Greene made to Rich Cimini last night.
I spoke to Greene late Wednesday night. This is what he said about his quote: "I said, 'We're 3-6 and something has to change.' At no time did I say we have to change quarterbacks or Tebow is terrible or any of that."
Asked to state his position on the Mark Sanchez-Tim Tebow situation, Greene told me, "It is what it is. Mark is our starting quarterback, Tebow is our backup and he does the Wildcat."
