In its latest NFL power rankings, ESPN has the Jets at 30th among the 32 teams this season.
The Jets, who were at 27 on the list, fell following their picks in the 2018 NFL Draft. So far, their choice of QB Sam Darnold has panned out well, with many impressed by what he has shown in practice and his first preseason game. But that doesn't tell the whole story about their draft.
ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini also gave his surprising player that could be in jeopardy of a roster spot by the end of camp. His choice was CB Rashard Robinson, who hasn't been the corner the Jets hoped him to be. Gang Green traded for Robinson last season at the trade deadline, giving up a fifth-round pick to the 49ers in return for him.
Robinson not only has performed poorly, but he is also suspended four games at the start of the season after a marijuana arrest this offseason. The Jets may get tired of him by the end of camp, and part ways with the 23-year-old.
The only positive (if it is considered one) coming out of the power rankings is the Jets are not the lowest on the list in the division. The Miami Dolphins are placed last at No. 32, while the Bills are at No. 28 and the Patriots sit at No. 2 overall.
