Now Commenting On:

The old phrase when it rains it pours has been in full effect for the Jets thus far this season. Safety Eric Smith sprained his knee during Wednesday's practice and will not play against the Colts. He's likely to miss a few weeks which means rookie Josh Bush will take on his role. Meanwhile, it appears the initial assessment of Kenrick Ellis' return was slightly miscalculated. Instead of the original two week period, that has now been upgraded to 4-6 weeks with a sprained MCL. Sione Po'uha continues to struggle with his lower back injury and while his status is currently in the air, I'd be surprised if he played Sunday leaving Damon Harrison and the newly signed Daniel Muir as the sole healthy nose tackles (though DeVito could move over to the nose if the team chooses to do so). Clyde Gates and John Connor are not practicing today.

Some good news though as Stephen Hill and Dustin Keller, as Bassett noted earlier today, are expected to play and will hopefully help, in some capacity, the Jets' sputtering offense. Nick Mangold sat out of practice for a second consecutive day but is expected to play.
