Bent: This was as frustrating a loss as the Jets have experienced all season. While it's easy to take consolation from the fact that the game was essentially meaningless and that losing the game might even be for the best in the long run, it's always unbearable to lose to the Patriots.
That's especially true when the Jets arguably played well enough to win comfortably...

That's four winnable games the Jets have blown now and they'd be right in the mix if they'd won all of those. They'd still be in contention even if they just won half of them. It's too late to worry about that now, though. The Jets are what their record says they are, which makes them a last place team.
However, they did just compete with the team many people consider to be the best in the league. Perhaps we can take solace in the fact that this means they don't need to completely overhaul the entire roster to get back to being competitive.
There are now just five games left in the season, starting with a winnable game next Monday night against the Colts.

The focus for the Jets needs to shift toward developing and evaluating young players eventually, but they will probably still continue to lean on veterans for the time being. It would be useful to see how much of a boost Nick Mangold will give to the offensive line once he returns and the team also should try and figure out how to get better production from Darrelle Revis, Sheldon Richardson, and Muhammad Wilkerson before they make any big decisions next year.
In this week's BGA, I analyze Week 12 performances by Todd Bowles, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Forté and Bilal Powell, Ben Ijalana and the offensive line, Brandon Marshall and Quincy Enunwa, the team's struggles on defense, and the special teams, which you can read by clicking here!!
