Jets' Adam Gase owns making Jamal Adams benching call

Gase isn't looking into the social media changes from Adams either

Jamal Adams may have scared Jets fans Tuesday when he took the team out of his Instagram and Twitter bios. This day and age, that's a main cause for speculation that a player isn't happy with his current situation.

Adams, though, went on WFAN afterward and didn't say he was displeased with the Jets. Instead, he brushed off the questions about his social media move.

"It's social media. At the end of the day, it's outside noise. I'm not focused on that," Adams said when Maggie Gray asked what we should make of the changes.

Head coach Adam Gase was also asked about that on Wednesday, and said he doesn't even have Instagram nor does he focus on what is going on outside of the building. He did, however, talk about Adams' benching on the final five plays of Monday night's contest against the Browns, something he said was his call.

"Yeah, that was me," he said. "I thought he was getting fired up pretty good. I didn't look at it as a benching."

Adams said the opposite Tuesday.

"Yeah, I was benched. They benched me," Adams said. "I tried to anticipate a play, which I anticipated wrong, and I was benched. Hey, it happens. I just gotta continue to do my job to the best of my ability as well as lead the guys around me."

Gase said he "100 percent understands why he was unhappy," bringing up his uber-competitive nature as well. But he has talked to Adams, and by the sound of things, it seems like they have cleared it up.

Still, it is hard not to look into Adams' decision to remove the Jets from his pages. The Pro Bowl safety was clearly ticked off about the situation on Monday night, and though it may be just frustration boiling over, seeing something like that from one of the leaders on the team won't be overlooked.

Adams did say "I strongly believe so" when asked if he can win with the Jets, something Gase should want to hear from one of his leaders in the locker room. Hopefully the two are on the same page like Gase is implying.
