Adam Gase and Frank Gore go back quite a while, so there shouldn't be much surprise that the 36-year-old was brought into Gang Green's running back mix.
Gore was signed to a one-year deal by New York, providing more depth to a group that includes Le'Veon Bell and rookie La'Mical Perine.
Speaking to SNY's Jeane Coakley during an interview for Friday's Football Night in New York: Living Room Edition, Gase spoke about how Gore has been leading by example for a long time.
"I think you're looking at a guy who's been doing this a long time," Gase said. "Obviously, he's up there in yards carried for over the history of the NFL, and over his career of helping younger guys develop he's been a great teammate. I've known him for a long time.
"My first year with him was 2008, and I think he was in like his fourth year or something like that. I'm amazed being around him because it's like go-time all the time. Then 10 years later, we get back together in Miami and he hadn't changed. That's why guys respect him so much. They watch him practice and they're blown away that at his age, the way he goes, it shows you that's what a Hall of Fame running back looks like."
