The Jets got off to a quick start as QB Josh McCown threw touchdown passes to Jermaine Kearse and Robby Anderson to give the Jets a 14-7 lead after the first quarter. But with New York up by two scores in the second half, the Dolphins stormed back to score 14 points in the final quarter.
With momentum on their side, Miami then intercepted McCown to set up what would be the eventual game-winning field goal.
Dolphins QB Jay Cutler left the game early with an injury and was replaced by QB Matt Moore. Both quarterbacks threw two touchdowns against the Jets' defense, but they also each threw interceptions to Marcus Maye. Demario Davis, Jamal Adams, and Josh Martin each recoreded sacks for New York.
Bilal Powell totaled 83 yards in his return, while Robby Alderson, Jermaine Kearse, and Austin Seferian-Jenkins caught touchdown passes for the Jets.
