The Jets claimed former Patriots offensive lineman Antonio Garcia off waivers and cut kicker Nick Rose, the team announced on Monday.
Garcia, 24, was a third-round pick last season but did not appear in a game after he had reportedly developed blood clots in his lungs, according to the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe.
New England placed him on waivers with a non-football-illness designation, but Garcia told New England media outlets he was cleared to return to football. A 6-foot-6, 302-pound left tackle, Garcia started 36 games at Troy.
Rose, 24, converted 11 of 14 field goals and 23 of 26 extra points in 10 games last season with the Los Angeles Chargers and Washington Redskins. Without Rose, Cairo Santos and Taylor Bertolet the two kickers on the roster.
