With NFL executive V.P. of football operations Ray Anderson slated to become the new A.D. at Arizona State, the question of his replacement still lingers.Graves is a guy who works behind the scenes, but is extremely smart and has been a help to John Idzik during his first year as the team's GM.
Based on multiple reports that have surfaced over the past few weeks, four names are in contention for the job: Dolphins executive V.P. of football administration Dawn Aponte, Jets senior director of football administration Rod Graves, NFL V.P. of operations Merton Hanks, and former Chiefs G.M. and Patriots V.P. of player personnel Scott Pioli.
It would seem that Graves is up against some rather serious competition, but that alone should be a pretty good indicator of what his peers and the league thinks of his body of work. Should Graves get the job, it would be interesting to see who Idzik tabs to replace his one of his hand-picked lieutenants.
