Jets RB Elijah McGuire underwent surgery Monday to repair his broken foot he sustained in training camp, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.
It was reported earlier by SNY's Ralph Vacchiano that surgery to stabilize McGuire's foot was in question. With the surgery complete, he isn't expected to miss the entire season, but rather about six weeks.
In the meantime, the Jets have signed former Raiders RB George Atkinson III to fill McGuire's spot on the depth chart. Running backs Alfred Morris and Orleans Darkwa also visited the Jets on Saturday.
McGuire, 24, rushed for 315 yards in 16 games during his rookie campaign last year. He averaged 3.6 yards per carry and scored two touchdowns -- one rushing and one receiving. He caught 17 passes for 177 yards.
