QB Sam Darnold (foot) was officially ruled doubtful for Sunday's game against the Bills, but there should be no concern for his 39-year-old backup stepping into his place.
Jets head coach Todd Bowles has no worried about Josh McCown filling in.
"He looks like a spring chicken right now," Bowles told reporters on Friday.
McCown will start his first game since last season when he went 5-8 as the Jets quarterback.
With Darnold injured, many are expecting former Giants backup QB Davis Webb to be promoted from the practice squad, but Bowles also added that he has not ruled out dressing Darnold as the backup.
Darnold did not practice all week and is in a walking boot, though.
In addition to Darnold, WR Robby Anderson (ankle) and C Spencer Long (knee/finger) are also doubtful. DT Steve McLendon (ankle) is questionable while TE Neal Sterling (concussion) is out.
WR Quincy Enunwa (ankle), who did not practice earlier this week, is expected to play.
