The Jets have reached out to the Arizona Cardinals about star CB Patrick Peterson but are unlikely to land him in a trade, according to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta.
Peterson, a three-time All-Pro corner, is unhappy with the state of his 1-6 team and has requested a trade. But the Cardinals have said they do not plan on trading the 28-year-old talent.
In his eighth NFL season -- all with Arizona -- Peterson has two interceptions and one fumble recovery. In 2014, he inked a five-year, $70 million extension that will keep him under contract until after the 2020 season.
The Jets did make a move on Tuesday, however, adding ex-Titans WR Rishard Mathews to their depleted wide receiver group.
