Many Jets fan want to know what is on the minds of head coach Todd Bowles and GM Mike Maccagnan when comes to their starting quarterback.
Well, fans are going to have to wait for that decision to happen as Bowles has noted he won't be making that call until after the preseason games are over. As for Maccagnan, though, he loves what he is seeing from his No. 3 overall pick in Sam Darnold so far in camp.
Speaking on WFAN's Boomer and Gio show, Maccagnan said he was "exceptionally impressed" by how Darnold has been progressing as he gets acclimated to the NFL. He also said Darnold has an "unflappable" presence when he's running the offense.
Those are strong words from the Jets' GM, but it shows the front office as well as the coaches like what they see from their hopeful quarterback of the future. Darnold may not have had the best of games against the Redskins, as he went 8-for-11 for 62 yards and an interception, but aspects of the game like his accuracy and ability to maneuver in the pocket have been evident.
Maccagnan also touched on Teddy Bridgewater, who he noted looks great as well. There have been rumblings that Bridgewater's success will certainly see him leave the Jets via trade, but Maccagnan isn't biting on anything just yet. He likes where his quarterbacks room that also includes Josh McCown.
So, there is still more evaluation that needs to be done with a lot to like from each quarterback the Jets have on their roster.
