Neither the Jets nor the Buccaneers could find the end zone through the first three quarters, as both teams combined for four field goals. But Fitzpatrick connected with Charles Sims with 6:05 remaining in the fourth for the game's first touchdown, giving the Bucs a 15-3 advantage.
With less than a minute remaining in the game, Jets QB Josh McCown finally found the endzone when he threw a 38-year strike to Robby Anderson to trim Tampa Bay's lead to 15-10.
DeSean Jackson led the Buccaneers in receiving -- especially early on -- with six total catches for 82 yards. Sims caught Fitzpatrick's only touchdown of the game.
QB Josh McCown completed 23 of 39 passes for 264 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He was sacked five times.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins caught six passes for 67 yards and Anderson hauled in four cathes for 85 yards and a score.
The Jets will host the Panthers on Sunday at 1 p.m.
