Jets third-round rookie offensive lineman Chuma Edoga has played his final game for the team in 2019. Edoga and wide receiver Jeff Smith were placed on the injured reserve list on Tuesday.

Edoga hasn't played since suffering a MCL injury against the Oakland Raiders in Week 12.

The 22-year-old did not start the season as a first-teamer at tackle for the Jets, but after injuries and a search for upgrades, Edoga began starting in Week 5. He was a staple in the team's offensive line until the recent injury, starting eight-straight games.

Edoga saw playing time at both right and left tackle at times this year, but the 6-foot-3 lineman took his rookie bumps. According to Pro Football Focus' grading system, Edoga earned an overall mark of 48.9 in his rookie season. That places him as the 81st best tackle in the NFL this year.

Smith was only recently promoted from the Jets practice squad prior to facing the Ravens last Thursday and had one catch for 12 yards before suffering an ankle injury. Smith was an undrafted rookie signee of the Jets following the 2019 NFL draft.

In addition to the IR news, the Jets announced the signing of wideout Keon Hatcher to the team's practice squad. In a corresponding move, center Ryan Crozier was released from the practice squad.
