Update: 6:26 p.m.: RB Daryl Richardson was signed to the practice squad (Jets, Aug. 31).

Finau: Tevita is a player that the Jets seem to like and might have a chance at becoming a contributor to this defense in future years.  More time on the practice squad will only help Finau to hone his game for the active roster.

Miles: The safety was singled by Ryan out for taking every opportunity afforded him and we imagine Rex wants to see Miles make the active roster at some point this season.  For now, the team's woes in the secondary had to take priority.

Hyder: The young defensive lineman was praised a few time by head coach Rex Ryan.  Like Finau, it's a good group for the youngster to learn from but could be a hard unit to crack based on the players on the active roster.

Pantale: This is Pantale's second time around with the Jets and there's some potential for the Jets as he demonstrated on a long catch and run in a blown coverage against the Eagles.  Pantale is a good project player for the Jets.

Qvale: Offensive line for the Jets is a tough unit to crack with all the investment the team has made in young talent, but as a former Huskers product, Qvale has the right college pedigree and might be another possibility for the Jets as a long-term backup for this unit.

Richardson: The running back had a good camp and while the Jets are full up with Johnson, Ivory and Powell, Richardson is a solid player that might be helpful for the Jets down the road.

Simms: The Jets needed a third quarterback who knows the system in case of emergency and knowing the system and playing some solid football in mop-up duty this summer made the decision to add Simms to the practice squad an easy one.

Update: While only seven have been uncovered and announced so far here's a few more players that we could see making the practice squad: Tajh Boyd, Troy Davis and Jeremy Reeves and if he has the eligibility Johnny Patrick along with LeQuan Lewis, who moved off in a corresponding transaction by claiming Leon McFadden.
